Bakmi Goreng

This is a recipe that I often cook for my boyfriend, as it is so simple, but has many things packed (except rijs).

I wrote this recipe for my boyfriend so you might see things like ‘the one I got from Pasar Malam’ hahaha. I just

List of things that you should prepare to make this:

  • Boiled noodles, removes from water afterwads, add a bit of oil (any) so that it doesn’t stick
  • chicken (any kind, chopped dice or as you prefer) or any other meat, make sure it is properly cut (bit sized)
  • 2 eggs (put in a bowl and beat)
  • chopped veggies that you like
  • Grated knoflook/knoflook – rode ui mix
  • Witte Peper if you like
  • Salt OR the MASAKO (the one I got from pasar malam) to taste
  • MSG (the white crystal-like powder on the small jar I put on top of the stove)
  • vis sauce
  • sesamolie
  • worchestershire sauce (optional)
  • kecap manis / sweet soja saus

I added also mushroom here but didn’t add more kecap manis because I didn’t want mine to be too sweet. I added green onion on top of it after I finished cooking for photo purpose (gotta sent that to my mum hahah).

How to cook:

  • Heat up small cooking oil (better the sonnenbloemolie, dont use olive oil, will taste like fart), add a little butter for smell, use stove setting 7
  • After the oil heats up, put the beat up eggs and half cooked them (you can also cut it in pieces once it formed), stove setting 6
  • Add the grated knoflook, one tea spoon, and mix with the oil a little bit (dont mix it with the egg yet)
  • Then put all veggies and meat in
  • After everything is mixed properly (eggs + veggies + meat), lower down the heat to 5, then add: Masako/salt, msg half a tea spoon, vis sauce, sesamolie, worchestershire sauce and then mix all together
  • lastly, add the noodles and then pour kecap manis on top, as you like, then put the heat back to 7 then stir everything until its dry
  • serve and add fried rode ui en prei to garnish; apart from that, I put the kerupuk and sliced tomato-cucumber on the side of the plate.

The stove setting (number) referred to my man’s stove setting at home as I felt more comfortable cooking on those settings.

Well for me it taste wonderful, but not sure how i’d taste on yours, so let me know if you have replicated it.

Eet smakelijk!
